Maxine Gilmer Allen, 87, died in her sleep, Monday, August 1, 2011, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Widow of Donald Allen, beloved mother of John Melvin Allen and his wife Susan of Houston, TX, daughter Jan Amy Fahrenholtz, and her husband Don of Broken Arrow, OK, and daughter Kay Ann Fenley, and her husband Jeff of Valliant, OK. She was Grammie Maxine to her dearly loved grandchildren Zachary Allen Bryan, Mykal Lynn Fenley, and Ross Allen Fenley. Born in Gainesville, Texas on January 29, 1924, she was raised in Marietta, OK and graduated from Marietta High School. She and her husband Don were married in Marietta in 1950, and spent the majority of their married life making their home in Bartlesville, OK where they raised their three children. Maxine was very proud of her children and delighted in supporting their activities. She had a joyful heart, a warm smile, as well as a strong passion and commitment to volunteer for numerous organizations which included, Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Hoover PTA, Y-Teens, United Methodist Women, Mutual Girls Club, Jane Phillips Auxiliary, and truly enjoyed in addition the many East Cross United Methodist Groups she participated in and supported over the years. Maxine was also a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.
Her husband Don, her twin infant sister Maureen, and her brother Ollie and her parents John Will and Daisy Gilmer preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Mrs. Allen will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the East Cross United Methodist Church with Rev. Chad Perceful officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
